China is one of the first countries in the world to use natural dyes. More than 4,000 years ago, people has sericulture to silk reeling and dyed all sorts of color. Indigo, alizarin, gall and carmine are the earliest natural dyes used in ancient China. Archaeological data show that dyeing techniques have been used in India and the Middle East for more than 5,000 years. The dye came from plants and animals or minerals and was rarely treated. The industrial production of modern organic dyes is only 100 years old. The first synthetic dye, aniline, was synthesized in 1856 by a British chemist, perkin, for dyeing wool and silk. The 1950s,Pattee and Stephen found both chlorine containing triazine reactive dyes in alkaline conditions with the hydroxyl on the fiber bonding, marked the dye makes the fiber coloring from physical process development to chemical process, create the synthetic application of reactive dyes. Since the 1960s, with the emergence of synthetic fibers, the development of various dyes has been promoted, so far, more than 1,000 dyes have been applied, and almost all of them have replaced natural dyes. Modern solvent dyes are not limited to the dyeing and printing of textile fabrics. It is applied in many departments such as paint, plastic, leather, photoelectric communication and food.
