Organic Pigments and Solvent Dyes' Properties and Development (PART I)

Red, violet solvent dyes, mainly include azo dyes(especially bisazo), metal complex dyes and acidic dyes, ammonium salts, anthraquinones and some heterocyclic dyes.
Red,violet monoazo solvent dyes' types is not very many, early Sudan red was composed by 2-naphthol as the coupling component, such as Solvent red 1, solvent red 4 and solvent red 17.
Among them, solvent red 1 still applied to color petroleum products, grease, wax polystyrene and other resins, it also can be used as smoke dyes. If use 1-naphthol as the coupling component, solvent red 2 and solvent 3 can be composed. Bisazo dyes is with more utility value, such as solvent dye 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27.
Solvent red 24 is applied widely in petrol, ABS, PS, soap, candle, also called candle red 24 or oil red.
Among the metal complex dyes and acidic dyes amine salts, except for yellow, orange and some red, violet species, we take the early Zapon species as example, it is with 1:2 complex structure, and appropriate for coloring ink, varnish and wood. Such as Solvent Red 8 and Solvent Red 243 is with cobalt complex, so does Solvent Violet 58.
Salts can be formed when acidic dyes combine with organic amines or basic dyes, as solvent dyes, they usually have the following special properties, Improve the light fastness, show the chromatic light of dark tone and bright color; Increase the activity of molecular, improve the property of sublimation and endurance of movement, and make it over generic oil dyes; Its solubility is superior to the generic metal complex dyes which is soluble in alcohol.
Choose different kinds of organic amines, you can make solvent dyes not only soluble in alcohol, ketone, but also soluble in benzene and toluol.
